Thursday evening proved to be a very satisfactory outing for a host of Comit’s Tech PR, Social Media, and Comit360 clients as they saw their hard work and creative, innovative thinking rewarded.
The salubrious surroundings of the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin provided the setting for the evening which was attended by over 500 luminaries from the technology sector. We saw four of our clients appear on stage to rapturous cheers and applause to pick up a series of awards throughout the evening. It was brilliant to see Comit clients excel at the 2016 Irish Tech Excellence Awards.
Network management company Fastcom fought off strong competition to secure the SME project of the year for their work with Smyths Toys. The project sees Fastcom provide the well-known Irish toy retailer with a complete network management solution, which allows its IT department have a complete view of its entire network over all 86 stores and 4,774 connected devices.
Equinix, the global interconnection and data centre company, took home the data centre of the year. This was in recognition of its role in enhancing Ireland’s reputation one of the world’s leaders for data centres, as well as its very significant new infrastructure investments. Equinix offers the farthest geographical spread and most data centres of any data centre operator in Ireland.
The Equinix table also proved to be the masters of social media as its selfie received the most re-tweets during the dinner to win an iPad!
The very competitive specialist distributor of the year award went to Data Solutions, Ireland’s foremost IT solutions distributor, which was voted by trade poll for demonstrating outstanding business, marketing and quality of service performance over the past year in numerous technology categories.
Information security provider, Ward Solutions, took great delight in winning the managed service company of the year award, with the judges recognising its growth and investment in a new industry leading Security Operations Centre. Ward was also able to demonstrate a significant number of new and improved accreditations as well as an impressive expansion of its range of managed services.
We were delighted to see our client Comtrade shortlisted in the highly competitive private sector project of the year for its fantastic work with Ryanair on the MyRyanair project. Fellow client E-MIT, a leading IT solutions company, was shortlisted in the SME project of the year category for its work with Depaul and also had head of business solutions Jessica McIlwaine, nominated for the rising star award. Sadly luck was not on Comtrade’s or E-MIT’s side on the evening but we know they’ll both be back next year in the hunt for silverware!
Other big winners on the evening were eir Business, which bagged the mobility project of the year for its work with Cityjet; Ergo, the IT solutions provider was named the company of the year and also had its work with Greencore recognised as IT project of the year. Storm Technology won the IT project of the year for the public sector for its project with the Department of Public Expenditure and reform.
