I am a junior account executive with Comit and this is my first job in the world of tech PR and what an introduction I’ve received. I decided to write this blog to give others with an interest in working in PR an insight into life within a tech PR agency in Dublin and the fun I’ve had so far. To say I’ve learned a lot since I started working here would be an understatement but the learning curve has become a little less steep because of the mentoring, training and support I’ve received from the Comit team.
I have to say that so far I am relishing every second of it and below you’ll find out some of the main reasons why.
Fantastic work atmosphere
It’s now crystal clear just how important relationships with our clients and journalists are. It’s nice coming into work and dealing with clients who engage positively and are genuinely happy to hear from you and this is because of the relationships our team has built with them over the years. Even the journalists, who are extremely busy – and I’m sure are contacted by many PR executives daily – are always happy to hear from us and have been extremely helpful and friendly as I took my first steps into pitching technology related stories to them.
Comit is a very energetic and fun place to work. Everyone works as a team and things like staff nights out and away days help to build a really enjoyable environment to work in. Another bonus is that everyone is a fellow fiend for tea and coffee which always encourages team bonding in my book.
Every day is different
As we are an integrated PR and marketing communications agency, every day throws up a new task that I have to jump into, such as arranging an event, writing digital and social media content, pitching to the media, writing a press release and helping with client video production and photo shoots. I’ve been able to succeed at these challenges because of the help and support that is central to life and learning at Comit.
The variety of clients also means that you get to learn about and work on a range of areas. In the morning you might be working on a global giant like PayPal, who are changing the face of money, and by the evening you’re head first into great Irish clients, such as TERMINALFOUR or Datapac, who are leaders in their sectors.
Great industry to work in
The technology industry is going from strength to strength in Ireland and this can be seen every day in Comit. We’re constantly growing and are extremely lucky to be in the position where we can be selective when taking on new clients, and only do so when we know that we can really add value to their business.
Being part of a team that is at the fore of the tech PR industry, and which is recognised and acknowledged for being the best at what it does, is not only a great learning experience but also instils a great sense of job satisfaction.
Overall, I am delighted to be starting my career in the world of technology PR and am extremely lucky I’ve been given the chance to grow my career as a part of the team at Comit.
